Why do people look down on inter-racial relationships?

My friends make fun of me for it.Why do people look down on inter-racial relationships?You have pretty lousy friends if they look down on you for that. (Unless they're just joking around, and you're being too sensitive? Because wow, I don't know how you could stay friends with people who have a genuine problem with this.)



For some people, it's a hatred of other races, though in most cases I've heard, people feel this way because of a perceived need to "preserve their race." Some fear that when too many "mix races," then we could end up with so many mixed people that their particular race (white, black, whatever) will cease to exist in its "pure" form.



It's quite a disgusting ideology in my opinion, as it seems to treat human relationships like dog breeding.



Besides that, there are many that feel that it's just natural/normal to be with someone who's the same color as you, and deciding to be with someone different implies a "hatred of your own race" to them. Which is, of course, ridiculous.Why do people look down on inter-racial relationships?
Because they have internal issues or are racist, but don't realize it.
