Is Prince Charles considering opening gambling Casinos in his Duchy?

The Grimaldis discovered that a gambling casino was a very good way to bring in tourist money and gambling revenue to add to the coffers of their Principality.....Charles is so smart, and certainly is always looking for good sources of income.

Do you think he will consider creating a "gambling mecca" in either the Duchy of Corwall or Lancaster....to create revenue to keep up the Palaces, and pay Royal Family expenses. Is Prince Charles considering opening gambling Casinos in his Duchy?
In Las Vegas the most significant increase in international visitors was from the UK as more and more flights nonstop to Vegas were instituted,

UK seems to have an aversion to so called Vegas casinos. They legalized them, and passed legislation allowing the first one to be built in Manchester, but then they urged that the single large casino be replaced with 16 smaller casinos.

A small town in Hungary is trying to build a Euro Vegas , but the recession has put most of these planes on hold.

Considering how many governments in the USA are trying to use gambling to shore up their budgets, I am sure that Charles would consider some of his properties as a gambling location, arguing that the money is better spent at home then going to Vegas. However, I imagine a relatively small casino compared to a Vegas casino. He could probably earmark the money to restoration of the palaces, but I doubt that the public would be comfortable with him using it for the "civil list".

The recent massive success of the Singapore Casino must be getting the attention of London. As more and more Chinese become tourists, there will be a desire to build a casino in London to attract them to that city before any other place in Europe.
Since a large influx of visitors would perhaps destroy the ecological system of the Duchy of Cornwall, Prince Charles probably hasn't thought about starting a gambling casino there, even though gambling casinos do operate on otherwise physically isolated Indian Reservations in the United States where the ecology is perhaps endangered. The reindeer lichen, which is native to Cornwall, has priority protection under the United Kingdom's Biodiversity Plan. The Cornish, of course, are a very independent lot, so they might have some say in whether a casino locates there. If the Duchy of Cornwall were to decide to open a casino, it would have to plan very carefully, so this picturesque region would not loose its ambiance.

Although Cornwall is warmed by the Gulf Stream, and the villages of Polpero (population 5,280) and Looe (population, 5,280) are popular destinations for a limited number of tourists visiting the "Cornish Riviera", currently Cornwall simply doesn't have the infrastructure or population to support a major gambling attraction. The largest town is St. Austrell (population 20,920), and Cornwall can only be reached overland by roads traveling through Devonshire, although the an express train runs daily from London to St. Austrell, Cornwall, and back again. Of course, Cornwall can be reached by ferry from across the English Channel by way of Plymouth.

Thanks, for asking the question. Cornwall is a beautiful part of the United Kingdom that not many Americans know much about, but should. Part of its charm lies in its relative isolation. Is Prince Charles considering opening gambling Casinos in his Duchy?
And if he was to open up a legal establishment on land that he owns, administered by people he employs and take the profit from said establishment to pay for the upkeep of his own "palaces" then why is there a problem with that?

Or are you complaining about the amount of money that his mother gets from the Civil List?

In that case let`s look at a couple of facts.

The Civil List expenditure for 2009 was 拢14.2 Million.

The amount of money that the Queen and Royal family bring in to this country is incalculable but I imagine it is far in excess of 拢14.2 Million.

Of course the Republicans who do not like the Royal family will all say that the tourists would come anyway so lets look at some cold hard facts.

The Civil List is granted to the Monarch of the United Kingdom to pay their expenses.

In return for the Civil List the Monarch allows the Government of the Day to have the income from the Crown Estates.

Income from the Crown Estates in 2009 was 拢231.2 Million

Civil List to the Queen was 14.2 Million

So. If we take the 拢14.2 Million away from the Queen we LOSE the 拢231.2 Million from the Crown Estates.

Net LOSS 217 Million.

Any more Royal Family Haters who want to be made to look stupid?

Edit. If Charles was to open a Casino and use the money thereby gained to repace the Civil List the republicans would just find something else to have a go about..

Such as how Charles` casino is encouraging poor people to gamble, how little money he pays the staff, how the extra heating that people demand is harming the health of the Pink Spotted Wallaby in Tasmania.

Absolutely anything as long as they can spend their sad little lives complaining how no-one ever gave them a break and thats why they have such sad little lives.

Ray
One should like to inform this 'Castlecoombe' chappie that it is actually 'Castle Combe'. People on glass motorbikes should not throw stones dear boy.

Now dear Minerva, I do believe that would be an excellent idea. One had such wonderful times at the Clermont Club, one misses it quite so. Perhaps Charles may give me the position of casinos' manager? One is most excited at the prospect! Is Prince Charles considering opening gambling Casinos in his Duchy?
I doubt it there is no such place as Corwall. Prince Charles donates many millions to charity and I'm sure that even if he were to open one in Lancaster the revenue would not go to the Crown. You are right in one comment you made, he is smart. Edit..... well said Ray. Now be prepared to be blocked by this person as she did me with her other account(s)
